India needs 35 million green jobs by 2047

India faces a dual challenge of environmental sustainability and need for rapid economic growth. With a population projected to exceed 1.6 billion by 2047, the demand for employment will be immense, especially as traditional industries face disruption from automation and climate change impacts. Green jobs offer a solution by fostering economic resilience with environmental outcomes, crucial for achieving India’s global commitments. Additionally, creating green jobs can empower youth, enhance rural livelihoods, and bridge the urban-rural development divide, ensuring an inclusive and sustainable future for all.

WeforWater fellowship creates skilled workforce for green economy.
It is India’s first apprenticeship program to skill youth in becoming workers, leaders, managers and enablers for sustainability.
