The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) is preparing for the upcoming monsoon to conserve rainwater and enhance Biodiversity. To conserve rainwater MCG is doing a functionality check drive for its public rainwater harvesting systems and encouraging residents of Gurugram to do functionality check their rainwater harvesting structure before the monsoon. Along with conserving rainwater, we need to enhance the biodiversity condition in the area to improve the overall green-blue ratio.
As per the Addl. Commissioner-IV, Mrs. Jaspreet Kaur (I.A.S.), “Our immunity is the most important asset and this is the best time to be aware of its value. Having clean air is very important and to strengthen this further, and in the pursuit to leverage the monsoons, MCG will reach out to various RWAs and NGOs to partner for the plantations to make this a community-driven and owned project. Horticulture vertical is strengthening its various nurseries to provide various plant species like, native, medicinal, shrubs and ornamental, which will be given to every RWA/NGO who volunteers partner in the process by filling the forms shared through emails, and WhatsApp messages with respective entities”
As a part of monsoon preparations for the year, Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) intends to collaborate with the RWAs and NGOs of Gurugram to conduct a plantation drive from June-August 2020. This drive will be facilitated by GuruJal, the water conservation wing of the District Administration Gurugram.
The plantation drive will be conducted in Resident Welfare Associations (RWA’s) Compound, or people can join pond bio-recharge zone, biodiversity, and urban city forest sites for massive plantation drives. But one can plant a tree on their own premises as well.
