Impact –
Popularly known as Butli baba Johad from ancient times, this pond has been a dumpage of wastewater for many years, noticing this issue, Powergrid came forward to support and restore the pond and for the same this project was started in 2020. This Pond receives wastewater from approximately 700 houses, in order to tackle the wastewater , a treatment plant with capacity 350 KLD (Treating 350 kilo litres of wastewater daily ) and DEWATS (Decentralised wastewater treatment system ) Technology is being installed at the site . As of now site is in construction stage wherein the dewatering and desilting of the ponds are going parallelly. This pond has its own gravity in terms of using sustainable materials like dried coconut shells as biofilters which treat water in its own natural way.
Apart from this the pond will pave a way for a recreational area for the community with the added element of Landscaping and kids play area. Waste elements will be used for the landscaping like waste stone and bricks for the filling inside the entrance gate frame, and seatings etc and many more.
The pond will recharge 6,58,75,000 litres of freshwater per year, which is sufficient for 3290 + people for 365 days apart for many other co-benefits.
